Thank you for our shoes!

The North Coast Courier’s annual Soles for Souls campaign brought smiles to many young faces on the weekend when children visited Desai’s Rank Store in Stanger to collect their new school shoes.

The campaign, which aims to collect secondhand school shoes and donations for new shoes, is run annually and benefits many of the children cared for by organizations supported by the North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.

This year the campaign received a single substantial donation that allowed the Fund to purchase more than 260 brand-new shoes.

Those second-hand shoes that were delivered to the Courier offices have also been put to good use and were distributed to children in need.

Organisations that benefited included Noah Nkobongo, Destiny Life Stanger who support Rose Zwane’s home for children in Shakaville and the Simphiwe Maphumulo Soup Kitchen in Etete, Stanger South Secondary school children who were selected as in need of new shoes, and the orphans supported by the Usizo and St Philip feeding schemes.

Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign so generously.
